<p class=header><strong>Daily Morning Prayer: Rite Two</strong></p>
<p><em>Officiant begins with the following:</em></p>
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ. <em>Phillipians 1:2</em><br><p><strong>Confession of Sin</strong></p>
<p>Dearly beloved, we have come together in the presence of
Almighty God our heavenly Father, to set forth his praise, to
hear his holy Word, and to ask, for ourselves and on behalf
of others, those things that are necessary for our life and our
salvation. And so that we may prepare ourselves in heart and
mind to worship him, let us kneel in silence, and with
penitent and obedient hearts confess our sins, that we may
obtain forgiveness by his infinite goodness and mercy. </p>

<em>or this</em>

<p>Let us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God. </p>

<p><em>Silence may be kept.</em><br>
<em>Officiant and People together, all kneeling</em></p>

<p>Most merciful God,<br>
we confess that we have sinned against you<br>
in thought, word, and deed,<br>
by what we have done,<br>
and by what we have left undone.<br>
We have not loved you with our whole heart;<br>
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.<br>
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.<br>
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,<br>
have mercy on us and forgive us;<br>
that we may delight in your will,<br>
and walk in your ways,<br>
to the glory of your name. <em class='response'>Amen.</em></p>

<em>The Priest alone stands and says*</em>

<p>Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. <em class='response'>Amen.</em></p>

<p><em>*A deacon or lay person using the preceding form remains kneeling, and
substitutes "us" for "you" and "our" for "your." </em></p>

<p><strong>The Invitatory and Psalter</strong></p>
<p><em>All stand</em><br>
<br>
<em>Officiant</em> Lord, open our lips.<br>
<em>People</em> And our mouth shall proclaim your praise. </p>

<p><em>Officiant and People</em> <br>
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as
it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever Amen. <br>
<blockquote><em>-or-</em> <br>
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as
it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. </blockquote>
<strong>Alleluia</strong></p>
<em>Then follows one of the Invitatory Psalms, Venite or Jubilate.</em> <br>
<em>One of the following Antiphons may be sung or said with the Invitatory Psalm</em><br>
<p><em>On other Sundays and weekdays</em><br>The earth is the Lord's for he made it: Come, let us adore him.</p><em>The Alleluias in the following Antiphons are used only in Easter Season.</em><br>
<p><em>On Feasts of the Incarnation</em><br>
[Alleluia.] The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us: O come, let us
adore him. [Alleluia.]</p>
<p><em>On all Saints and other Major Saints' Days</em><br>
[Alleluia.] The Lord is glorious in his saints: O come, let us
adore him. [Alleluia.]</p>

<p><strong>Jubilate</strong><br>
<em>Psalm 100</em></p>
<pre>
Be joyful in the Lord, all you lands; *
 serve the Lord with gladness
and come before his presence with song.

[Antiphon, if used.]

Know this: The Lord himself is God; *
 he himself has made us, and we are his;
we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

[Antiphon, if used.]

Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise; *
give thanks to him and call upon his Name.

[Antiphon, if used.]

For the Lord is good;
his mercy is everlasting; *
and his faithfulness endures from age to age.
</pre><br><em>Then follows</em>

<p><strong><u>The Psalm or Psalms Appointed:</u></strong></p>
<p><b>[Psalm 83]</b><br><pre><i class=copy>Deus, quis similis</i><br>1O God, do not be silent; *
do not keep still nor hold your peace, O God;<br>2For your enemies are in tumult, *
and those who hate you have lifted up their heads.<br>3They take secret counsel against your people *
and plot against those whom you protect.<br>4They have said, "Come, let us wipe them out from among
     the nations; *
let the name of Israel be remembered no more."<br>5They have conspired together; *
they have made an alliance against you:<br>6The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; *
the Moabites and the Hagarenes;<br>7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; *
the Philistines and those who dwell in Tyre.<br>8The Assyrians also have joined them, *
and have come to help the people of Lot.<br>9Do to them as you did to Midian, *
to Sisera, and to Jabin at the river of Kishon:<br>10They were destroyed at Endor; *
they became like dung upon the ground.<br>11Make their leaders like Oreb and Zee *
and all their commanders like Zebah and Zalmunna,<br>12Who said, "Let us take for ourselves *
the fields of God as our possession."<br>13O my God, make them like whirling dust *
and like chaff before the wind;<br>14Like fire that burns down a forest, *
like the flame that sets mountains ablaze.<br>15Drive them with your tempest *
and terrify them with your storm;<br>16Cover their faces with shame, O LORD, *
that they may seek your Name.<br>17Let them be disgraced and terrified for ever; *
let them be put to confusion and perish.<br>18Let them know that you, whose Name is YAHWEH, *
you alone are the Most High over all the earth.<br></pre><br><em> - or - </em><br>&nbsp;<br><p><b>Psalm 34</b><br><pre><i class=copy>Benedicam Domine</i><br>1I will bless the LORD at all times; *
his praise shall ever be in my mouth.<br>2I will glory in the LORD; *
let the humble hear and rejoice.<br>3Proclaim with me the greatness of the LORD; *
let us exalt his Name together.<br>4I sought the LORD, and he answered me *
and delivered me out of all my terror.<br>5Look upon him and be radiant, *
and let not your faces be ashamed.<br>6I called in my affliction and the LORD heard me *
and saved me from all my troubles.<br>7The angel of the LORD encompasses those who fear him, *
and he will deliver them.<br>8Taste and see that the LORD is good; *
happy are they who trust in him!<br>9Fear the LORD, you that are his saints, *
for those who fear him lack nothing.<br>10The young lions lack and suffer hunger, *
but those who seek the LORD lack nothing that is good.<br>11Come, children, and listen to me; *
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.<br>12Who among you loves life *
and desires long life to enjoy prosperity?<br>13Keep your tongue from evil-speaking *
and your lips from lying words.<br>14Turn from evil and do good; *
seek peace and pursue it.<br>15The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, *
and his ears are open to their cry.<br>16The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, *
to root out the remembrance of them from the earth.<br>17The righteous cry, and the LORD hears them *
and delivers them from all their troubles.<br>18The LORD is near to the brokenhearted *
and will save those whose spirits are crushed.<br>19Many are the troubles of the righteous, *
but the LORD will deliver him out of them all.<br>20He will keep safe all his bones; *
not one of them shall be broken.<br>21Evil shall slay the wicked, *
and those who hate the righteous will be punished.<br>22The LORD ransoms the life of his servants, *
and none will be punished who trust in him.<br></pre><br><p><em>At the end of the Psalm is sung or said</em><pre>
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:*
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen
</pre><em>-or-</em><pre>
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:*
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
</pre><p><strong><u>The Lessons</u></strong></p>
<p><strong>The Old Testament Reading</strong></p><p><em>Reader:</em> A Reading (Lesson) from <u>1Samuel 2:27-36</u></p><p><b>1 Samuel 2:27-36</b><br>27Then a man of God came to Eli and said to him, "Thus says the LORD: 'Did I not clearly reveal Myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house? 28Did I not choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be My priest, to offer upon My altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod before Me? And did I not give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire? 29Why do you kick at My sacrifice and My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling place, and honor your sons more than Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel My people?' 30Therefore the LORD God of Israel says: 'I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.' But now the LORD says: 'Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. 31Behold, the days are coming that I will cut off your arm and the arm of your father's house, so that there will not be an old man in your house. 32And you will see an enemy in My dwelling place, despite all the good which God does for Israel. And there shall not be an old man in your house forever. 33But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar shall consume your eyes and grieve your heart. And all the descendants of your house shall die in the flower of their age. 34Now this shall be a sign to you that will come upon your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die, both of them. 35Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever. 36And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and say, "Please, put me in one of the priestly positions, that I may eat a piece of bread."'" -- <a href='#copyright'>NKJV</a><p><em>Reader:</em>The Word of the Lord.<br>
<em>Answer:</em> Thanks be to God.</p><p><b>8 The Song of Moses</b> <em><i>Cantemus Domino</i></em><br>
<em><i>Exodus 15:1-6, 11-13, 17-18</i></em><br>
<em><i>Especially suitable for use in Easter Season</i></em><br>
<pre>I will sing to the Lord, for he is lofty and uplifted; *
the horse and its rider has he hurled into the sea.

The Lord is my strength and my refuge; *
the Lord has become my Savior.

This is my God and I will praise him, *
the God of my people and I will exalt him.

The Lord is a mighty warrior; *
 Yahweh is his Name.

The chariots of Pharoah and his army has he hurled into the sea; *
the finest of those who bear armor have been
	drowned in the Red Sea.

The fathomless deep has overwhelmed them; *
they sank into the depths like a stone.

Your right hand, O Lord, is glorious in might; *
your right hand, O Lord, has overthrown the enemy.

Who can be compared with you, O Lord, among the gods? *
who is like you, glorious in holiness,
awesome in renown, and worker of wonders?

You stretched forth your right hand; *
 the earth swallowed them up.

With your constant love you led the people you redeemed; *
with your might you brought them in safety to
	your holy dwelling.

You will bring them in and plant them *
on the mount of your possession,

The resting-place you have made for yourself, O Lord, *
the sanctuary, O Lord, that your hand has established.

The Lord shall reign *
 for ever and for ever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 	world without end. Amen.

<p><strong>The New Testament Reading</strong></p><p><em>Reader:</em> A Reading (Lesson) from <u>Acts 2:22-36</u></p><p><b>Acts 2:22-36</b><br>22"Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know-
 <sup>23</sup>Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;
24whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
25For David says concerning Him: ' I foresaw the LORD always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
26Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
27For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
28You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.'
29"Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
30Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,
31he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
32This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
33Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
34"For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: ' The LORD said to my Lord, " Sit at My right hand,
35Till I make Your enemies Your footstool."'
36"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

<em>Answer:</em> Thanks be to God.</p><p><b>20 Glory to God</b> <em><i>Gloria in excelsis</i></em><br>
<pre>Glory to God in the highest,
and peace to his people on earth.

Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world:
 have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father:
 receive our prayer.

For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
 Jesus Christ,
 with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

<p><strong>The Apostles' Creed</strong><br>
<em>Officiant and People together, all standing</em></p>
<pre>
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
 creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
 He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
 He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
 He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
 the holy catholic Church,
 the communion of saints,
 the forgiveness of sins,
 the resurrection of the body,
 and the life everlasting. Amen.</pre>

Almighty God, Father of all mercies,
we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks
for all your goodness and loving-kindness

We bless you for our creation, preservation,
and all the blessings of this life;
but above all for your immeasurable love
in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ;
for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies,
that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise,
not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up our selves to your service,
and by walking before you
in holiness and righteousness all our days;

as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of
